Prescribed Burning

Current Prescribed Burn Projects:
A map of authorized agency-administered prescribed burns is located here. Smaller prescribed burn projects and pile burn projects conducted by contractors and landowners are not shown on this map.
On Wednesday, December 17th, a contractor for the Butte County Fire Safe Council (BCFSC) will be burning approximately 6 acres of large piles in Paradise off of Crestview/Nottingham Drive – press release is here. A separate BCFSC burn (3 acres of piles) will be conducted in Berry Creek off of Big Ridge/Little Ridge Road. Small pile burning at Butte Creek Ecological Preserve is continuing, as are several other burn projects in the foothills. Additionally, favorable conditions have allowed Terra Fuego to conduct an 11.5 acre pile burn project east of the Chico Airport.
The Butte County Fire Safe Council has currently paused their pile burning projects in Forest Ranch in partnership with CAL FIRE, and in Cohasset in partnerships private contractors. We will update this page when the projects are again active.
Also currently on pause are CAL FIRE's pile burning in Paradise and in Oroville at the Loafer Creek Recreation area on the "Phoenix" project, which is located near Hurleton, east of Oroville. We will update this page when the projects are again active.
