Proposed Burn Regulations

Current Activities:

On August 23, 2010, District staff released a public notice of the recent proposed amendments to Rule 300, Open Burning Requirements, Prohibitions and Exemptions. Staff will be conducting a public workshop on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Paradise Pines Property Owners' Association Recreation Hall at 14211 Wycliff Way in Magalia, California. It is important that residents understand what is proposed and that the proposed amendments will restrict but will not prohibit residential burning in the Magalia/Upper Ridge or in any other area outside of the Chico Sphere of Influence. The amendments to Rule 300 will be presented to the Governing Board, along with the administrative amendments to District Rule 507, Burn Permit Fees, at the September 23, 2010 Board meeting in Paradise, California. Following a continuation of the Public Hearing in Paradise, the proposed adoption of amendments to Rule 300 has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the City of Chico Council Chambers, 421 Main Street, Chico, CA. Should the Governing Board decide to adopt the proposed amendments, staff are recommending they become effective on March 1, 2011.
